Your selected hosting plan needs to meet the minimum requirements before WordPress can be installed. Does it? If you don’t know, then you will have to ask Yahoo. We don’t know the specifics of their hosting plans.

    http://wordpress.org/about/requirements/

There are several people here that host WordPress on Yahoo for better or worse. Here are a few tips.

In your ‘wp-config’ file you need to change “localhost” to “mysql”.

If you go on to use use Permalinks you need to insert ‘index.php’ at the beginning of whatever permalink structure you choose (by the way if anybody has a solution for this let me know)

Create a /tmp subdirectory and make it writable

Do not look in file manager for .htaccess because Yahoo does not allow files that start with a “.”. You can however access it from the Admin interface in WordPress

    Just my observations.

I use Yahoo for one of my WP sites and have never had any issues. Recently, Yahoo made it so that ALL of their small business hosting plans support the minimum WP requirements (as opposed to just the higher-priced ones) and so I bought another domain for a second site a few days ago. Now, I am having issues with setting up a database. I keep getting an error on Yahoo’s side â€â€? the tool they use to activate the database is broken. I have called their “24-hour” support and am told phone support doesn’t cover PHPmyAdmin or mySQL, so I just shot off an e-mail to their online support team to figure out what’s going on.

It’s CRAZZY annoying, because I’ve NEVER EVER had problems with their hosting before.

I have not been able to install worpress because of a problem I am having with phpadmin and mysql. everytime I try to grant privileges to my mysql user so that I can install wordpress. The message I get is access denied (using password YES). I have looked online and tried a couple things in the coding and successfully locked myself out of phpadmin! I have since reverted the code tried installing wordpress anyway and while I have changed localhost to mysql every action wordpress takes to install is blocked because I have failed in my quest to grant myself privileges. Should I be using a different administrator or is there a fix for the error? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I should probably point out that I am a complete novice with absolutely no programming experience so I would apprecite any advice you give me to be spelled out at the level of your average three year old. Thanks!
