XML Sitemaps - Languages/Categories (3 posts)

I am planning to use categories to separate languages on my website. So the structure will be as follows

    1. Categories = languages. e.g. website.com/English/
    2. Pages e.g. website.com/English/about

    Three questions
    A. Do you recommend using categories to separate languages?
    B. How do I build a sitemap that makes the search engine "understand" that the categories are different languages and that the French side of the website should rank for google.fr, the spanish part for google.es
    C. The default structure of XML Sitemap is nice with 1. Pages 2. categories - but given that categories are languages in the categories sitemap I want to associate somehow the pages to the category "within" the category itself so that the search engine understands that a page is linked to a language. I do not want the search engine to crowl all the pages in different languages as if they were the same thing, otherwise the spider will be confused and the pages will not rank well (I assume). What would be your recommendation?
    D. Would it be better to have different domain names for different language versions of the website? e.g. website.es, website.fr. What is best from an SEO perspective?

    Thanks a lot in advance,
