xml import error

  • hi!

    i have a blog at wordpress.com, and i want to move it to my own server. i exported the xml, i installed the wp to my server it works fine
    BUT
    i want to import the xml file in the import menu, but it says max file limit is 2 MB and my xml file is 5 times larger…no what to do? 🙁 please help

  • You can slice up the xml file. It isn’t that hard to do.

    or

    Try doing a complete database export-import. Then it can be zipped, etc.

    thanks for the reply i got it resolved by the system admin, he raised the upload limit 🙂

    but i have another error. it imported my posts and my uploaded files but the tags and categories are not 🙁 its a big problem because i have hundreds of posts so if would be difficult to type it again by hand, but inside the exported xml file i see those tags and categories…i dont get it why doesn’t they created during import.
