# XML Google Maps Plugin ….API key?

 * Hello, I am trying to embed google earth in one page (“the walk”) in my site 
   [http://www.outerregion.hackinghistory.ca](http://www.outerregion.hackinghistory.ca).
   I have the kmz and kml files already in my editor.
 * I installed this XML google maps plugin BECAUSE it is only one that mentions 
   google earth. Now, the first thing I am told in ‘settings’ is I have to get API
   key, so when I go to page linking me I read “does not require api key any more”…
   but still need to give my plugin an API key…?
 * SO the plugin creator says ask the community, as he is not answering questions,
   so I am asking if any have had same problem?? Many thanks if you can help 🙂
 * Or is there a different way to do this altogether?
