# XML Export "Something Went Wrong" Message

 * I’m trying to export XML so I can use it to print a book of the blog. The blog
   I am trying to print has only 10 posts and 64 comments. It shouldn’t be a big
   deal.
    One of the blog-to-book systems I’m trying has you download the XML and
   upload it. But I can’t even download the XML. The message I get is: Something
   Went Wrong, It’s Matt’s Fault. etc” I try again later, as it suggests, but four
   times now, it’s failed.
 * Incidentally, I’ve tried other blog-to-book sites that try to pull directly from
   the blog using the name and password. These also have trouble extracting my content.
   What’s wrong with my stuff that I can’t use it elsewhere?

 * Have you tried:
 * – deactivating **all** plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works,
   re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
 * – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.
 * – [resetting the plugins folder](http://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_Troubleshooting#How_to_deactivate_all_plugins_when_not_able_to_access_the_administrative_menus.3F)
   by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause
   problems.
 * What version of WordPress are you using?

 * Esmi, Thanks again, so much.
 * It’s actually not my personal blog. It is the blog of a friend who died last 
   year, and I offered to make a book of his posts for his wife. It seems to be 
   a WordPress.com blog (I use WordPress but self-hosted) and so I’m assuming it’s
   the latest version of WP.
 * His blog was very simple, and there weren’t many Plug-ins. But I will try deactivating
   the few he has and see if this allows me to extract the data. All I want to do
   is go from blog to book — for 10 posts! It’s still as complicated as if there
   were 100!
