# XCloner FTP

 * I can’t see anything wrong with my ftp configuration for Xcloner location but
   on verify I get the message
    **FTP connection error: Could not write data** Unfortunately
   this doesn’t tell me much about what might be wrong. Is there any way to get 
   diagnostics? The same FTP setting are working with Filezilla client. I have access
   to the FTP sever log and it shows a successful connection. If I attempt a backup
   again a connection is made successfully BUT no attempt to transfer a file is 
   logged.

 * Have you checked and made sure that your ftp user has write permission on the
   backup folder path location? I don’t see any other reason for that error.

 * Thanks for responding. Yes the user does have full permissions – boxes ticked
   in the Filezilla server and I check the Windows permissions on the folders too.
   
   Since posting this I have been able to do a transfer using a different plugin(
   UpdraftPlus) and I now wonder if the problem has something to do with passive-
   vs-active connections but can’t see any setting for this in Xcloner.

 * Hello,
 * I’d suggest you to check with your hosting company and ask if they can provide
   some logs, as I’m not able to reproduce your issue on any of our test envs.
