• After the last Update to 3.3.2 of WordPress I could not use the Wysiwyg – Editor.

If I tried to change a text in an article or write a new one, the switch over the textfield for html/text was gone. I just saw the menues of the text – editor. In the last days I searched for a solution but could not find one.

Today I recognized, that at the same time, the text/html switch was gone, I had an update of my virus – protection software. And because of that I changed some settings in the virus – protection software. I switched on – not to send information about my browser to the server -.

And that was the problem for not loading the Wysiwyg – Editor in WordPress.

After I switched of the setting – not to send information of my browser to the server – in the virus – protection software, the Wysiwyg – Editor worked again in WordPress.

Probably the Wysiwyg Editor makes a difference between different browsers / Systems and needs this information to load the right parts.

If it did not get any information it can not load at all.

Maybe this solutions helps others of you too?

    Best regards
    Gordian Hense

  • Sounds like your virus software is blocking cookies. WordPress needs cookies for a lot of what it does, including logins in general and much of the backend operations, as you discovered.
