Support » Plugin: Rating-Widget: Star Review System » wysiwyg editor stops working for posts

  • Seemed to be a neat plugin at first sight. However, the wysiwyg editor stopped working for my blog posts. The editor becomes white/blank and therefore useless…

Deactivating the rating-widget plugin makes my wysiwyg editor working again.

Another issue: sometimes it takes long to make connection with the rating-widget server, which makes the stars invisible at the page.

Wanted to give it 2 stars here, but that should mean it ‘works’. In my case it doesn’t work, since I can’t use my wysiwyg editor anymore. Therefore 1 star.

    UPDATE
    ======
When using default theme Fourteen, the problem seems to be gone. Changed rating to a 4 star.

Hi Vova, thnx for the quick reply!

Would be neat. But I’m not looking forward to a lot of debugging. What would be quickest way to get it done?

The most efficient way would be to contact us via https://rating-widget.com/contact/ and send us a temporary admin access so we can debug it for you.

Hmm, I did some more research, and now things start to become complicated… In chronological order, this is what happened along the way.

    ———————————————

    1. Installed wordpress
    2. Installed and activated Enfold theme

    Wysiwyg editor worked fine.

    3. Installed rating widget plugin

    Wysiwyg editor stopped working.
I submitted a post here: http://www.kriesi.at/support/topic/wysiwyg-and-text-editor-stopped-working-for-blog-posts-empty-blank-content They suggested to deactivate plugins and see what happens.

    4. Deactivated rating-widget plugin

Wysiwyg editor started to work again.
I submitted this post (https://wordpress.org/support/topic/wysiwyg-editor-stops-working-for-posts). Now I decided to change the theme and activate the rating-widget plugin again.

    5. Activated Fourteen theme (default)
    6. Activated rating-widget plugin

    Wysiwyg editor works as well…

    ———————————————

    So here’s what we have.

    1. If I use the Enfold theme, the wysiwyg editor works fine
    2. If I activate the rating-widget, the wysiwyg editor stops
    3. If I use the Fourteen theme, the wysiwyg editor works again

So, there seems to be something wrong with both the Enfold theme as well as the rating-widget; or at least with the way they work together.

    ———————————————

Then there’s the issue of slow loading times of the rating-widget. And I read some negative opinions about hosting at rating-widget.com and the ownership of stats.

This makes it hard for me to decide what I should do now; please give me some time to think it all over…

    Thnx

    Hi Vova,

I decided to go with another plugin for various reasons. But really appreciate your quick reply and offer to help debugging. Also, when changing to default theme Fourteen, there’s no problem. So can’t be sure the problem was caused by the plugin, or the theme.

Therefore updated the review and gave it 4 stars now 😉

Wish you lots of succes with the plugin!

    Cheers,
    Marc

Thanks Marc 🙂 Just out of curiosity, what plugin have you decide to go with?

No worries mate, I’m using yasr (yet another star rating) right now:

A bit rough around the edges, but I think it’ll come along nicely…
