• Hi,

I just upgraded my site to WP 2.0. However, the WYSIWYG editor doesn’t seem to work. Whenever, the page loads (in the “Write” section), I get an error message that pops up saying:

“Error: Could not find the template function: TinyMCE_advanced_getEditorTemplate”.

I’ve tried it on both IE and Firefox 1.5. Both have the same problem.

Any suggestions on what the problem could be? Thanks.

Has anybody experienced this problem? This is a bit urgent. I tried googling, but didn’t find something relavent for WP 2.0

may wanna check and be sure that the wordpress\ wp-includes\js folder got uploaded to your server. That’s where the editor is stored.

yep. It’s there. I even tried re-uploading it. Still, same problem…

My next best guess would be the admin folder.

    what about the admin folder?

Try reuploading the wp-admin folder from a fresh download of the distro. Make sure the files are uploaded as ASCII, not binary….

    I tried re-uploading wp-admin…that didn’t help.
However, I tried re-uploading wp-includes/js using a different FTP program and to my surprise: it worked!

I originally uploaded everything using SmartFTP, which doesn’t seem to be a reliable program now. An exteremly disappointing piece of software…

Which FTP client do you guys use?

I use WS_FTP Pro – bought it back in, oh I dunno, 1997 maybe? Free upgrades forever, and it hasn’t EVER let me down….

Hmm…the WYSIWYG editor seems pretty limited. For example, how do you change fonts, sizes, create tables, etc.? The screenshot of the editor at the TinyMCE site seems much more advanced. Do I have something wrong setup or is this normal?

imho, I like using the old school editor better. But that’s just me, I’m so used to it.
    🙂

I haven’t a clue. Don’t use the damn thing – I use a real editor…. Probably will be someone else along eventually who will know.

what’s the “old school” editor? Are you referring to the TinyMCE plugin for WP 1.5?

vkaryl: you mean, just “copy&paste” from a real-editor like Word?

ah, I just meant the straight html box with buttons to insert tags. I used to hate it, but now I’m so used to it, I find it hard to use anything else. 🙂

No…. NEVER use a word processor (or even windows notepad!) for html!

I use TopStyle Pro. It’s $80 US or thereabouts, but I have a web design and management business, so buying it was fine. There are probably decent free html editors, I just don’t know what they are. When I need to write html on the fly, quick and dirty, I use notepad2 from http://www.flosfreeware.ch/ – doesn’t add extraneous crap the way windows notepad does.
