Taking a look at my All in One SEO sitemap I see the “gz” extension. When we manually submit our sitemap to Google should we also include the “gz” extension after xml?

Then, Google is notifying me to add a sitemap for “www”, my first submission excluded that. Can we setup a sitemap with “www” in the plugin as well or is this not important?

    Thanks,

    Don

You can submit both XML sitemaps, the Gzipped version and the non-Gzipped version.

If your site has www before the domain name then you should have added your site to Google Webmaster Tools as www. If you did this then your XML Sitemap will have the www in front.

However, if your site does not have www in front of the domain name then you do not need to worry about www. Most web servers these days do not use www in front of the domain.

Got it – Google’s explanation merely provided confusion on the subject.

    Thanks for your help.
