W#TC and Varnishd Cache

HI, I’d like you give me a few guidelines to set up w3tc (An amazing plugin) with varnishd cache.
I see a box to enable it and another box to pu IPs.
These IPs must be in the server?
They must be free IPs or should be the same IP user for the varnisdh site?
