• Hi all,

I have the following issue: I have got a website in German language. The exported static sites work BUT special characters like “ä” “ö” “ü” aren’t correct.

instead of “Über” there is “Ãœber” now
instead of “Ernährung” there is “Ernährung” now
instead of “Büro” there is “Büro” now
    … and so on

Is there any option, setting, anything I can do to have a correct export???

    Thanks a lot,
    Stefan.

  • I did noticed that when plugin exporting files with space char in filename it export it with %20 as replacement for space char. After such file is uploaded to another server – url doesn;t work anymore, since filename is different than original one. That is noticed on Linux hosting servers.
    Example:
    orig filename: Simple image.jpg
    exported filename: Simple%20image.jpg

Any idea how to fix that?

Ok … I found out something.

Mistakenly I thought, that the Simple Static exported site contained these “wrong” characters. BUT the exported files were fine! Simply Static worked fine in this case.

BUT I had to put into that simply static folder a “.htaccess” which contains in my case the following line “AddDefaultCharset UTF-8”

With that line and that .htaccess file within the folder of the simply static export – all my German special characters will be interpreted correctly.

    Cheers, Stefan.
