  • Hey kokers,

    The issue you describe is not indicative of something that is dependent upon having either the Pro or Free version. Using just the Facebook Page id PrzedszkoleDimbo of this account results in a feed being displayed properly as seen on our demo page here.

    Could I have you submit a request for help to our personal Support page here and provide your plugin’s System Info. We can then examine the settings you have in place and dig deeper into your issue.

    To get your plugin’s System Info go to:

    Your WordPress DashBoard – and click on Facebook Feed
    Go to the plugin’s Settings page
    Click on the Support tab
    Select all text in the “System Info” by clicking in the box, copy and then paste the ‘System Info’ into your reply.

    Also please make reference that your request was in regards to this posting here.

    Thank you and we look forward to helping you resolve the problem.

    Hi David!

    Thanks for a quick response. Actually I think I found what is happening after your demo setup. The issue is that all links are build with “facebook.com” instead of “www.facebook.com”. Not sure if this is something you parse when you get posts from facebook API or this is what you get from API itself, but this was a reason why I got an error. I thought the link was build wrong (as it’s id instead of page name), but it was an error on my end that it simply didn’t redirect me from facebook.com to http://www.facebook.com and thus the confusion.

    So it’s kinda not a bug, but a bit of a bug as it should link to page without redirects if possible, but either way, problem solved.

    Thanks for your time and sorry for taking it ;o)
    Have a great day.

    Hey @kokers,

    I just wanted to respond to this as the plugin developer to explain why we use the ID in the link. The reason is that when requesting posts from Facebook, their API only provides the following information about the author of a post:

    "from": {
      "name": "Przedszkole Narciarskie DIMBO",
      "id": "787217561300011"
    }

    The only way to create the link for the author’s Facebook page is to use the ID, as using the name isn’t always accurate. Using the ID then redirects to the correct Facebook page.

    Hopefully that sheds some light on why the plugin does it that way, but if you have any other questions at all then just let me know.

    Many thanks!

    John

    Hey John!

    I really appreciate that you took time and explain reasons behind this. This of course make sense. The only suggestion from my part would be to link facebook address with “www.” at the beginning, but this is more of a cosmetic change, and nothing crucial.

    Have a great day! And thanks again :o)

    No worries, I’ll take a look and see whether we can change this in the next update. Thanks again for the feedback!
