Writing a Bridge Plugin

  • Hello,

I have been working with WordPress for almost 3 years now, and I do know it pretty well. However, I do not have much experience or knowledge in the ways WordPress handles user sessions.

I have the task of writing a bridge plugin that will bridge the session between a custom Java app and wordpress, which will reside on a subdomain.

I call upon any of those who may have some knowledge and input in this area.

    • Is this possible to do with a plugin, or does it require core hacking?
    • What are some files you suggest I look at, maybe even some specific functions that will be of use.

Are there any pre-existing examples or resources that you can reference?

If so, what is the development pattern to do so?

Thank you for you time. Happy holidays!
