• Hello, I am using your plugin since long time and I recently updated it. Starting after the update, I have noticed a problem, the module photon of jetpack is unable to fetch and serve from wp.com CDN the thumbnails created by WPP. Not only, I have set some featured image identical in some different page/post and being the page/post ID different, it results 2 images with identical content but different filename in the same folder …/uploads/wordpress-popular-posts/… This triggers an error in GtMetrix. Do you have any comment?

    Hi there!

Starting after the update, I have noticed a problem, the module photon of jetpack is unable to fetch and serve from wp.com CDN the thumbnails created by WPP.

I honestly wouldn’t know, I’m not familiar with Jetpack nor Photon as I’ve never used them.

    From the documentation:

Photon currently only acts on images in posts and pages, as well as featured images/post thumbnails via the image_downsize filter.

I’m not sure if this means that Photon also handles custom images on the Uploads folder or not. Are you sure it was serving WPP’s thumbnails from wp.com before? If so, then you may want to get in touch with them and ask about this.

I have set some featured image identical in some different page/post and being the page/post ID different, it results 2 images with identical content but different filename in the same folder …/uploads/wordpress-popular-posts/… This triggers an error in GtMetrix.

This is to be expected. WPP doesn’t know if two or more posts share the same image, so it just creates a thumbnail per post. How does GtMetrix know they’re the exact same image? What does the error message say?

    I says:

About the WPP thumb, I remember there were while now they are not, still gtmetrix is the key, it triggers now that all the thumbs are not onto a CDN

About the image content, the message is:

Serve resources from a consistent URL:

The following resources have identical contents, but are served from different URLs. Serve these resources from a consistent URL to save 1 request(s)

Alright, I’ll see if I can find a way to avoid duplicating images on WPP’s upload folder.
