Support » Plugin: WordPress Popular Posts » WPP generating extra, blank list items after upgrade

  • Resolved dcarroll82

I just upgraded to version 3.2.0 of WPP, and I’ve just noticed that it’s now generating an extra invisible link for each post in a list. Check out the “Popular Posts” sidebar widget at to see what I mean.

There’s no class or id attached to this extra link, so I can’t hide it using CSS. Also, the widget is now only displaying 11 posts when I’ve set it to display 12. I’m sure that’s related to the issue somehow.

I’m running WordPress 4.0.1 with Thesis 2.1 theme, and the only changes I’ve made recently are the upgrade to WPP 3.2.0, and updating Disqus Comments to version 2.8.4.

Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Hi, friends!

The wpp_get_mostpopular function doesn’t works after the update (3.2.0) with the cat parameter. It works fine if I remove cat from the code. But I need to display a popular posts including in the categories. Please fix.

    Hi @dcarroll82,

That empty link belongs to the thumbnail, but the image tag is missing. Are you using the custom HTML feature / shortcode / wpp_get_mostpopular() template tag?

@anton the issue has been identified and a new update will be available soon.

    Hi Héctor,

I wasn’t using custom HTML, so I switched that on and removed the thumbnail tag.

Issue is now resolved, thanks for that.

Great plugin by the way – keep up the good work!

That’s an old issue actually, but since it doesn’t really represent a problem I keep forgetting about fixing it. I’ll improve that on a future release. WPP shouldn’t output empty HTML tags anyways.

By the way, WPP 3.2.1 is already available 🙂

Thanks! It works fine now! 😉
