    Hello Kansleri team,

First of all, thank you for this great plugin! I’ve been using it successfully on a multilingual site with WPML.

I’m reporting an issue that started after updating from version 1.7.2 to 1.8.0 and persists in 1.8.1.

    The Problem:
After updating to 1.8.x, all banner texts (title, description, button labels, etc.) appear in English on the frontend, even though the translations are correctly saved in WPML String Translation and appear properly in the admin panel.

I tried all the usual troubleshooting steps:

    • Cleared all caches (WordPress, WPML, server, browser)
    • Rescanned and retranslated strings in WPML
    • Deleted and re-registered strings
    • Regenerated MO files via WPML → Support → Troubleshooting
    • Tested with all other plugins disabled and with a default WordPress theme

    What fixed it:
The only solution that worked was downgrading back to version 1.7.2. As soon as I reverted, all translations displayed correctly again.

    My Setup:

    • WordPress: 7.0.3
    • WPML: 4.9.6
    • PHP: 8.3
    • Theme: Hello

    What I suspect:
I believe the change introduced in 1.8.0, specifically the fix that says “Polylang/WPML secondary languages no longer inherit banner texts from the default language”, might be causing this issue. It seems the plugin is now ignoring the translations stored in WPML String Translation and falling back to English for secondary languages.

I wanted to report this to help you investigate and hopefully fix it in a future release. For now, I’ll stay on 1.7.2.

Thank you for your time and for maintaining this plugin!

    Best regards 😉

You were right: the 1.8.0 update broke WPML translations on the frontend. Your translations were still saved correctly in WPML, but the banner stopped using them and showed English instead. That’s why going back to 1.7.2 fixed it for you.

This is fixed in 1.8.2. Please update, clear your caches once, and check a secondary language on the site. Your existing WPML translations should work again without needing to redo them.

If anything still looks wrong after updating, just let me know.

Ps. WordPress.org currently delays plugin updates by 6 hours so moderators and security scanners can review changes before they reach users.

Hi, I’m sorry, my days have been quite hectic and I only managed to check this today.

I installed the latest version, cleared all the cache, and I even tested it in the browser using an incognito tab, but the problem still persists.

I’m sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner, and thank you so much for your effort in looking into everything. ☺️
