• Hi, I’m trying to translate some of the plugin’s strings with WPML string translation. I can find the appropriate strings when clicking on “Translate texts in admin screens”, I can tick them to register but they don’t show up in the list for translation thereafter. The process works for strings of other plugins or themes.
    So maybe this is related to the plugin.

    Best regards
    Michael

    Hi,
    Thank you for reporting this. The plugin follows the WordPress standards for text strings. I don’t know why your plugin does not recognize them.

    Hi, it looks like this was related to my server settings. I increased max_input_vars in php.ini and now the selected strings are registered for translation.
    Thanks

    The issue isn’t totally resolved however. I can translate the title, the tags and categories but the translation doesn’t work for the “read more” link text. The string shows up for translation but it isn’t used in the translation.
    Could this be plugin related?
    Any idea?

    The localization into other languages works fine, even for that string. I have no idea why in your plugin doesn’t.

    I had been in contact with WPML support. I reproduced the issue in a simple test site.
    They said: “Unser Kompatibilität Team muss das reparieren mit Theme Autor. ”
    Which means that they want to contact you. They meant to say Plugin Author.

    Today, 3 months later I received another reply by WPML.

    This is what they wrote:

    Based on what is written here:
    https://wpml.org/documentation/support/language-configuration-files/

    – Create a file and name it “wpml-config.xml”
    – Insert this Code:

    <wpml-config>
        <admin-texts>
            <key name="widget_pis_posts_in_sidebar">
                <key name="*">
                    <key name="the_more"/>
                </key>
            </key>
        </admin-texts>
    </wpml-config>

    – Insert the wpml-config.xml file here:
    /wp-content/plugins/posts-in-sidebar

    Did you make a test? Does it function?
