The yoast sitemap on https://brokernotes.co has 3x URLs being added to it by WPML that are 404’ing:
/nl, /it and /de
You can see them here: https://brokernotes.co/page-sitemap1.xml
These URLs are created by WPML as subfolders so that we can have content like /nl/an-article-in-dutch/ but the pages do not exist.
I’d like to remove these 3x pages from the sitemap and can’t figure it out.
1) I can’t remove them from the Yoast dashboard as that only allows you to exclude posts by ID, and these URLs are not actually saved as posts/pages, therefore there’s no ID to exclude.
2) My best guess would be to identify the taxonomy that WPML is using to create these URLs and then register that taxonomy as public so that I could exclude that taxonomy in Yoast, but I cannot work out what taxonomy is creating these URLs.
Anyone have any ideas? Is there something I can add to the htaccess or a workaround to remove these URLs?
