@nemovich
Who knows with WPML. This “translation” plugin rarely works without theme or plugin conflicts, etc, etc. WordPress wasn’t built with multiple languages in mind.
However, I would reckon to say that you would find better support going through WPML rather than SportrsPress. You need to troubleshoot using WPML with custom post types in my opinion.

Do you also have a license for all of their addons ? or just WPML core ?

@corrinarusso
I must agree that WPML is not a simple tool for WordPress translation but it’s not my first time using WPML, I know my way around this plugin and looked into every solution before posting here.
I narrowed down the problem to the duplication method, it works if I translate without using the “duplicate” option from WPML but I lose the auto-update feature so I have to update both languages everytime. That’s a lot of work !
Also in the linked thread, they say that it’s a SportsPress issue not WPML, that’s why I posted here.
Hey @nemovich
So, you have a work-around in place ?
I know what you mean re: where the issue may lie – WPML vs. SportsPress and that may certainly be valid, but in my (unfortunate) WPML experience it just does not work that well. It’s a kludge, as are all translation plugins. And I like to blame WPML as often as I can.

ha ha
The WPML String Translation is actually a pretty good addon – I use it for everything that is leftover that doens’t get translated as expected.
@corrinarusso
It’s a “fake” work-around because I have to manually create hundreds of games for 4 teams AND update them manually in both languages. No thanks π
but using WPML, I just bulk duplicate clubs and games and tell the plugin to sync results for the second language which apparently is not working in my case.
I hope someone from Themeboy will be able to help me.
Hey @corrinarusso
Have you ever translated SportsPress with WPML ?
I just can’t figure out why league tables are not in sync between the two languages and somehow fixtures/results become inverted in second language ( home/away > away/home )
Thanks for your help
@nemovich
No. I have never needed that requirement. However, as I said, lots of experience with WPMP and every instances requires some sort of hack / customization.
Without seeing the backend, it is very difficult for me to provide a good comment for you.
@corrinarusso
So I figured it out and it’s not WPML or SportsPress, it was…me
I setup WPML to copy almost everything to the second language AND I bulk duplicated clubs and games with translation management. this last one was the problem as it created “double duplicates” and WPML didn’t know which directive to follow!
I deleted duplicated content and it fixed everything.
One last question : how to mark a game as canceled or postponed ?
@nemovich
Great you got it worked out – I’m still going to blame WPML.
See here to cancel a game :
