Support » Plugin: Contact Form by WPForms - Drag & Drop Form Builder for WordPress » WPforms (free version) stopped working

WPforms always did a great job for me but I noticed that I stopped receiving form submissions for a couple of weeks now (normally I got a couple of spam entries and occasional “good” entries per week, now nothing since the first week of April). I’ve tested the form several times myself during the pass couple of days to see if it still works but I don’t receive my test messages either. I haven’t changed anything apart from the occasional plugin updates. Please advice, I’d rather see this problem fixed than look for an alternative as I’ve always been happy with WPforms.

The last weekly WPforms summary I’ve received is from April 12 by the way, I stopped receiving those too.

    Hi @aevdh,

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having issues with email delivery.

To troubleshoot the issue, you can check that your form notification settings are configured correctly by following our tutorial.

If your notification settings are correct, the issue is likely because the emails sent from WordPress are not authenticated (unlike emails sent from dedicated email service providers). As a result, they are likely to be filtered by the receiving mail server.

To resolve email delivery issues like this, you can configure a SMTP plugin on your site so that emails are sent as authenticated. We have an article with a list of recommended SMTP options and links to their setup tutorials.

    I hope this helps 🙂

Thank you for your respons Jade. Notification settings look OK. I’ll have to dive deeper into the authentication setup, which is a bit more complex by the looks of it. What seems odd to me is that everything worked flawlessly for more than 2 years but now I receive none of the form submissions I did as tests.

    Hi @aevdh,

As different ISPs and email service providers use different factors as metrics to filter spam or block emails, some email addresses would receive the notification email, while some do not, and some work for a while and suddenly stops. The best way that we know to improve email deliverability would be to use an SMTP plugin to configure the website to send authenticated emails.

    I hope this helps!

    Hi Jade,

I spent a couple of hours today on finding out what needed to be done and then doing it. Setting up Sendinblue, WP Mail SMTP, trying to get changes validated… DNS stuff is all new to me but it looks like I did it right, the form seems to work again. Thanks so much, this is like wizardry to me so I’m glad with the recommendations and links you gave me. Issue solved 🙂
