 * Occasionally when I vist my web site I notice that  ‘/?doing_wp_cron=123456‘ 
   is appended to the URL  ([https://mysite.com/?doing_wp_cron=123456](https://mysite.com/?doing_wp_cron=123456)).
   My SEO person is complaining saying this is having a negative impact on our Google
   search ratings.
 * Doing some searching I see that WPcron is part of a standard WP install and used
   to schedule events. I also see that I can completely disable it if I want.
 * Im not sure why I just started seeing this recently and would assume that the
   SEO person would have noticed it earlier in the logs. We have not installed any
   new plugins recently.
 * Why did this just start recently?
 * I don’t want to disable it, I’m sure that backup plugin, WordFence, cache clearing
   etc uses it.
 * Will this negatively impact our search ratings?
 * With so many sites built with WordPress and WPcron being enabled by default there
   must be a good solution to this issue?

 * This parameter can be used to trigger WordPress to execute a specific cron job.
   These are tasks that should normally run in the background. The parameter should
   therefore never actually be visible.
 * If it is visible on your site, have you previously called any link on your website
   that contained the parameter? There shouldn’t really be anything like that. If
   this happens, it is probably due to a plugin you are using. You could try deactivating
   all of them.
 * I would doubt that the mere presence of the parameter affects the findability
   in search engines. However, there are different views on this among real SEO 
   people (which I am not). Nevertheless, from a technical point of view, the parameter
   is not correct at this point.

 * I have disabled all of my plugins but still have gotten the cron jobs appended
   several times in the last few days.

 * Went back and looked at my wp-config.php file and found I had added ‘ALTERNATE_WP_CRON’
   and even commented it with my initials.
