WP_Query->get_posts() slow query when add/edit post

When working in the backend using the Classic Editor, we have noticed significant slow queries from the following call related to the AMP plugin.

We have 20k posts and 500k comments.

After reviewing previous threads I can confirm AMP developer tools is deactivated. Any other thoughts on how to reduce or eliminate this call on the admin backend? We don’t need to use any of the settings or meta boxes for AMP on a per-post basis, is there an option to not load this call at all?

Thank you for reporting this. I see what the issue is. We should be able to include the fix in the next patch release which we’re planning to release tomorrow. We may have a build for you to test in a few hours as well.

I’ve opened a pull request to fix the issue: https://github.com/ampproject/amp-wp/pull/6198

Tomorrow we’ll review, merge, and provide you with a 2.1.2-alpha build to test. In the meantime, there will shortly be a comment on that pull request with a 2.2-alpha build you can test as well.

We haven’t yet done the 2.1.2 release on WordPress.org, but the pull request has been merged and is now in the 2.1 branch. If you’re willing to try the 2.1.2-alpha build you can do so via this plugin ZIP: https://storage.googleapis.com/ampwp_github_artifacts/refs/heads/2.1/prod/amp.zip
