• I seem unable to fix wp_options table

wp_options: Table is marked as crashed
wp_postmeta: 2 clients are using or haven’t closed the table properly

Tried through phpMyAdmin and also seems to be unable to fix it.

If my only option is restore backup…
My database is a couple month’s old. Would it be possible, and what would happen if I only restore the old wp_options table instead of the whole database? I’d hate losing all my work from these past two months.

  • The wp_options table doesn’t hold any content for posts/pages/etc (in a well-designed site anyway), so you shouldn’t have any issues with content. You might notice some problems with plugin or theme settings if these have changed since your last backup.

You can definately can import a single table from a backup. All you need to do is isolate the SQL that sets up that table and it’s data. I’d suggest to give it a try, but as always take a full backup before you do anything, just in case it does bring up some other issues.

And when it gets working again, take more regular backups. 😉

Thanks for the reply, it’s very useful. I will try to import the backed up table, and hopefully I just need to reconfigure some options for the last posts.
