Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.
If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics on these), navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. Hopefully, this will force the default theme to activate and rule out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).
Hi James,
Thanks for the help…when you say reset the plugins do you mean deactivate then reactivate them?
Yes, specifically those instructions are for if you can’t access the Dashboard, which I may have assumed incorrectly.
If you can access the Dashboard, please attempt to deactivate all plugins and switch to the default Twenty Twenty-Three theme. If the problem goes away, re-activate them one by one to identify the source of the problem.
If you can install plugins, install Health Check. On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to deactivate all plugins and change the theme for you while you’re still logged in without affecting normal visitors to your site.
I do have access to my Dashboard. I tried to deactivate one plugin (Yoast SEO) but now I can’t reactivate.
I tried to get Health Check but it won’t let me. It just goes to all the errors. I am worried if I keep deactivating plugins I won’t be able to reactivate them.
Please attempt to deactivate all plugins and switch to the default Twenty Twenty-Three theme. If the problem goes away, re-activate them one by one to identify the source of the problem.
