# [Plugin WP Archives] shows archives in more than designated page

 * I recently installed the wp_archives plugin and created the page as the information
   states…not only does this create an archive list on the page I created – it also
   turns my main site into an archive list…instead of the normal posts. Is this
   what it is supposed to do? I was hoping to have a separate page that lists the
   links, not on my main page.

 * A link to that plugin will help others help you. Thanks.

 * Not sure what you mean, link to the plugin that I used? If so – [wp_archives](http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-archives/)
 * Thanks!

 * Well you put a ‘tag’, `<!--wp_archives-->` on the page you want the archives
   displayed. So, is the page you put that ‘tag’ in also designated as your blog’s
   static front page in [Administration](http://codex.wordpress.org/Administration_Panels)
   > [Settings](http://codex.wordpress.org/Administration_Panels#Reading) > [Reading](http://codex.wordpress.org/Settings_Reading_SubPanel)?

 * No it is set as “Your Latest Posts”
    The page that I added for the archives is
   called “Archives” and has the tag you described above – when I activate the plugin,
   my front page as well as the archives page has all the archives listed on it.
   That is what I want it NOT to do – I just want it listed on the “Archive” page.

 * I had the same problem as samortensen had. **All** pages of my blog turned into
   archives, not only the main and archives pages.

 * Okay duplicated the problem as reported by samortensen and elnur.
 * Have just one [Pages|Page]] with `<!--wp_archives-->` in the content, but it
   is showing a list of archives with every post and every page.

 * I wanted to install this but I get a warning that states that the plugin has
   not been tested with my version of WP which is 2.9.
    Anyone else try this with
   any newer versions? States compatible up to 2.7.1
