  • Considering that many theme developers prefer to use the same version number as the WordPress installation to identify their static files and (probably) to avoid the browser cache, I would say that removing this has little impact.

    The plugin already remove the metatag with the generator, which is what most web scanners use to identify WordPress websites, extending this to hide the version number displayed in different places of the HTML code would increase the latency of every page and at the end will render useless because a smarter web scanner would not use that number in the first place, it would compare the checksums of common static files which provides more accuracy.
