Support » Plugin: Easy Updates Manager » WP5.1: Plugin not working for excluded users

‘All Updates’ are enabled. ‘Plugins’ have individually blocked updates for certain plugins. From ‘Advanced’, have a given user excluded.

Now, when logged in with the excluded user, EUM is hidden okay, but the blocked plugins aren’t blocked anymore and updates are being offered. Expected behavior: whatever was configured with EUM to happen for excluded users, too.

If excluded user is enabled and logged in, the blocked feature is respected.

    Tested with WP5.1

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Please check documentation here – https://easyupdatesmanager.com/knowledge-base/exclude-users/

    Hope it helps.

Okay, I understood incorrectly the intent of this feature, thanks for the clarification.

But still, by hiding EUM from excluded users, as an admin, I’d expect to apply my settings AND disable access to EUM UI to anyone else. That’s the way I’d see as most useful to enforce policy.

Perhaps, for a future version, you’d consider another checkbox for designating a given account different of admin for updates, as is now, but the rest to get really excluded from messing with my EUM settings, by hiding it out.

    Thanks.

Like @alx359, I had misunderstood the “Exclude users” function. Now I understand how it works, I just don’t see how it’s useful. Excluding a user allows them to perform updates as per normal WP operations and hides the plugins’ settings. If I want to allow someone to perform any update, it’s most likely myself or a very trusted person. Therefore, it’s the same person I would want to configure the plugin. Except it’s no longer possible since the settings are hidden.

In my opinion, it should work the other way around, i.e. “Super super admin users” instead of “Excluded users”. As soon as someone is identified as such, they can perform any update and they become the only ones granted access to the EUM settings.
