 * Hello [@jstask](https://wordpress.org/support/users/jstask/)
 * Thank you for your message and for using our plugin.
 * I am sorry to read about your issue. I need more information to understand the
   context of the issue. To help us troubleshoot this problem, can you please answer
   the below questions?
 * 1) Had this user 2FA configured already or not?
    2) When is this error showing
   up, when the user is trying to log in / after logging in? 3) Are there any policies
   that are forcing this user to configure 2FA?
 * The more information you can give us the better we can understand the issue.
 * Looking forward to hearing from you.

 * Hello @robertabela,
 * sorry for the late response, I missed the notification.
    Here is what I did after
   the set-up 2fa with immediate 2fa setup enforcement right after the first login:
 * 1. the administrator “user one” created a new administrator “user two”.
    2. the
   new “user two” got initial login credentials via mail from WordPress. 3. the
   new “user two” logged in, set a new password, and was enforced to configure 2fa
   immediately. 4. The new “user two” did some unrelated WordPress tasks. 5. The
   administrator “user one” changed the role of “user two” from administrator to
   subscriber and got the described error in the browser console after saving.

 * Hello [@jstask](https://wordpress.org/support/users/jstask/)
 * We have just released update 2.2.0 of the plugin in which we also updated the
   function that handles 2FA and user role changes etc, which also fixes this issue.
   Please upgrade to the latest version for the fix.
 * Thank you very much for using our plugin. Do not hesitate to ask should you have
   any questions.
 * Have a great day.

 * Actually I just solved my case. My live version was working on **the php version
   7.0** and the plugin uses some features from **7.1**, so I had to update the
   PHP version on the live server. Maybe it will be useful.
