Just FYI, I installed it via “Add plugin”, and I have the latest to date versions of WP and the plugin
Hello @katso,
I’m really sorry to hear about this unexpected experience, and thank you for bringing it to our attention!
At first glance, this does seem like an edge case that may occur under very specific circumstances or certain server configurations. (e.g. where wp-config.php file is regenerated often by third parties). Indeed you are correct, we’ve seen a similar report in the past — you can find it here — and I can confirm that our developers have already implemented improvements in the plugin’s code to prevent this kind of behavior from happening again.
It’s possible the issue was previously marked as resolved due to inactivity, but rest assured, we’ve taken it seriously and addressed it internally and it’s already wrapped up in the next, major official release.
We’re planning to release the upcoming version of the plugin within the next couple of weeks at most, so please stay tuned.
Thanks again for flagging this, and for your understanding, and let us know if you notice anything else after the new update.

That’s correct, the wp-config file is generated by Kubernetes. Thank you 🙂
Thanks for confirming this for me, @katso!
That being said, this looks exactly like what I was referring to earlier — I’m confident it will be fully resolved with the upcoming major plugin release 2.9.0, which we’re aiming to push out very soon. So definitely stay tuned for that!
Once you’ve had a chance to update, feel free to let me know if you’re still experiencing any similar issues.
Wishing you a great day ahead!
Hello there @katso !
I hope that you are doing well today!
Just a quick follow-up to let you know that the newly released WP 2FA version 2.9.0 includes additional logic checks that should reliably prevent edge case situations like the one you experienced from happening again.
Feel free to update to the latest version — I’m confident this will take care of it!
Let me know if anything else comes up.
