wp version 3.5.1 updated automatically

    I was using version 3.5 for last few months and since the release of 3.5.1, was getting a message to update it to the newer one. I never thought of updating it coz of the fear of losing my data (being a newbie).
    But on 26th of April I was shocked to see how the wp version and all the latest plugins were automatically updated (it may have happened on 24th or 25th Apr). And aftr this updation,as I had feared, I am facing few problems. Like when I try to save any new page or update some old plugin settings , it takes me to the page that never shows up and when I use the back button and come to the post again I see the updated content.

    Can I get the help on what could have happened here? I just want everything in place as it was on 24th apr

    I’m sorry but that’s just not possible. WordPress cannot automatically update itself. The coding to do that kind of thing simply isn’t present. So someone updated WordPress a few days ago.

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    yeah..was quite sure of it earlier. But it has happened..Anyways, for me more imp is to rollback it back. I tried “re-uploading all files & folders” but to no avail. Is there any way I can get the backup of my site as on 24 april ? I did use some plugin for daily backup, but it can’t give me the data for the required date. Since I noticed the changes after few days , the original data is actually lost .

    Did you make any database backups of your site? Did your hosts?
