I noticed when trying to setup the WP part of WP-United that phpBB has to be on the same vhost than WP.
Is it not possible to run it on a ifferent vhost and on a different domain?
I like to sync the user tables and maybe crosspost WP articles to phpBB. Sure that single logon and stuff like this won’t work beause of the cookies on different domains but at least users would have the same settings like password, avatars and so on on both systems.
Yes you should be able to do that, but I haven’t tested across domains.
V0.9.1.6 only allows you to navigate to phpBB within the same vhost. The nightly package from WP-United.com allows you to type a path yourself. Or you can wait for the v0.9.2.0 release in a few days time.
Thank you for your answer.
I just tried the nightly version.
Yes, I can enter the path manually, but it is prefixed by the base path of the WP vhost.
What I would need is a real absolute path, beginning with /. Is this possible?
You can edit the base path too. Just click on it. 🙂
Ok, works now. As the vhosts run on different users and own security settings, it did not work. But I have to take another deep look into it.
For now I copied the complete phpBB directory to a subdirectory /phpbb/ on the WordPress website. It works now. But:
Where do I find the permissions mapping page? Is this under the phpBB ACP link in WordPRess? This links to the correct phpBB address (the second domain we use here), but I get a blank page. Seems to be a logging thing because of the two domains- which prevetns singlo logon to work.
In phpBB ACP I did not find the permissions mapping page.
Ok, I found the permissions mapping page. It is only visible when some settings are turned on.
Yes, that’s right. When auto-create users in WordPress is turned on.
