WP to Twitter not working with FeedWordPress

I’m using the FeedWordPress plugin to syndicate content from other blogs to my wordpress site. But WP to Twitter is not working reliably. It tweets a new post occasionally but misses most of them. I believe this may be because FeedWordPress uses the timestamp of the original post, so that it may appear to be several hours old at the instant it is actually posted. Is there any way to force WP to Twitter to tweet every new post regardless of timestamp? (or could there be some other reasons WP to Twitter is not working with FeedWordPress)?
