  • How feasible is it to replace a Joomla website with WordPress? In other words, can I do anything with WordPress that I can do with Joomla? Does that largely depend on the current features of my Joomla site or has WordPress advanced so much that it can do anything Joomla can via extensions?

I’m not a code guy so I don’t know the technical bits, however, the web design firm I am interested in hiring says they prefer to use WordPress and that it will be easier for me to maintain in the long run than a Joomla website. Thanks for any advice or input you may have.

  • WordPress and Joomla are both CMSs. So, you can do virtually anything with both… WordPress uses plugins, while Joomla uses extensions, which have the functionality…

As WordPress developer, I’ll obviously say that WordPress is better, just as any Joomla developer will say that Joomla is better…

In the essence, they are the same, with the same possibilites…

The fact is: WordPress is much better structured than Joomla, so as web designer, you’ll realize that you can make changes more quickly and more easily using WordPress

Hi Rafael, thank you for your reply. I just had a look through the WP extensions and there’s some really nice stuff in there. So I’m definitely considering making the switch now…
