 * You really should not be modifying theme files – all of your changes will be
   lost when the theme is updated. Instead use a [child theme](http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes)
   or custom CSS plugin to make CSS changes.
 * Since your theme is not available here:
 * [http://wordpress.org/themes/](http://wordpress.org/themes/)
 * I don’t know what it’s supposed to look like or what’s not working right. These
   forums generally only offer theme-specific support for themes from here. Have
   you asked the developer of the theme for help with this?
 * Also, these are volunteer forums, so bumping this thread after only 40 minutes
   really isn’t so cool… [http://codex.wordpress.org/Forum_Welcome#No_Bumping](http://codex.wordpress.org/Forum_Welcome#No_Bumping)

 * Hi, im new on wp themes, and im trying to figure out how to use it.
    im currently
   using this theme, [http://www.dessign.net/simplephototheme](http://www.dessign.net/simplephototheme)
   overall i like this theme, but there are a few things id like to change.
 * is it recomended to install this theme, and start changing the code, to make
   it look the way i want?
 * is this the way it works?
 * someone told me i shoudnt do it, because when they release an update, i will
   loose all the changes ive done.
 * so, whats the correct way to use a theme?
    1 – pick one, and change whatever
   is necessary to make it look the way i need. 2 – pick one, and accept that it
   is not 100% the way id like it to be?
 * tks

 * If you want to change a theme, you can use a Child Theme to make changes – see
   the link I posted above for how to make a child theme.
 * Do note that not all themes will work with child themes.
 * Also, these forums support themes from here:
 * [http://wordpress.org/themes/](http://wordpress.org/themes/)
 * So if you use a theme from someplace else, you may want to make sure that the
   developer provides support for theme-specific questions.
