Support » Plugin: WP Super Cache » WP Super Cache seems to cache Error pages

  • Hi,

I had today a MySQL error on my website (no worries, not linked with WPSC AFAIK), and the error page (“Error establishing database connection…”) seemed to be cached by the plugin.

    What did I do:

    1. A colleage tell me about the error. I went to the site, and I saw it as well.
    2. I ssh’ed to my server, tailing every one of my related logs (WordPress access & error, mysql)
    3. I tried to send again the request. Connection was logged to the access log, but nothing more. It was really like if everything was absolutely fine. But! But the ugly blanky freeking page was still there.
    4. (Not a real step, but it is probably the most important thing in this experience):
I started to think “Srsly, WtF?”
    5. Then I went to /wp-admin. My dashboard appeared, as normal. Because of the absence of errors but the persistence of the error page, and knowing that WP-Admin is not cached, I went to the WP Super Cache options. After having purged the cache, everything went back to normal on the frontend

So! Is it possible that WPSC, by misfortune, refreshed the cache at the exact moment of this error? Is there a way to avoid that?

    Thank you

PS: I’m using WP 4.3.4 which is not listed in the WordPress version dropdown

  • I have exactly the same feeling. Notice (HTML comment) about caching was even in source code.

But I don’t understand how is this possible.
