Support » Plugin: WP-Stateless - Google Cloud Storage » WP-Stateless not being used for file uploads

We are using the WP-Stateless plugin to upload content directly to a Google Cloud storage bucket. It was working fine for a while, but now appears to be completely disabled and ignored (Despite the plugin being activated).

Our issue is that the website is hosted in a Docker container and the wp-content/uploads directory cannot be written to. This is why we are using the WP-Stateless plugin. When trying to add new media, we get the following error: “Unable to create directory wp-content/uploads/{year}/{month}. Is its parent directory writable by the server?”

My understanding is that WP-Stateless should override this and not even try to write to the uploads directory at all. Is this correct?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

At this time, WP-Stateless will write files to disk temporarily before uploading them into GCS.

Hi @ideric, thanks for the response! Is there a way to change this logic? It seems a bit unnecessary to write to a temporary file, unless it has something to do with PHP/etc.

I believe it is a limitation of WordPress and how thumbnails are generated.

We’ve thought about workarounds for this (providing a SaaS service for thumbnail generation), but we haven’t been able to fund such development at this point.

    Hi @ideric,

Just a quick update on this issue. We have fixed the previous write error (Unrelated to WP-Stateless), enabled support for Gravity Forms (In the WP-Stateless settings), but the files uploaded by a Gravity Forms file upload field is still going to the local disk in a directory like https://<website>/gravity_forms/5-e00e8c3aef31f4eef369ab321c7d5f36/2018/11/artifacts.zip

Any ideas what might be going on here?
