    Hello!
I’ve just get my first WP site ready to put on the host. But I see that it runs as admin. How can I make it run so that the public has no right to edit ,comment etc. Then I would define a couple of users with author or editor roles who could make posts(after login).

    Tx.

The public doesn’t have any admin access to the site, you’re only seeing that because you’re currently logged in as an admin. 😉

    Congrats on your first site.
No customer/subscriber can edit your posts/site unless you provide him edit access to the site.
If you don’t want comments from the customer, then you can easily turn it from settings.
Please follow the path to the comment setting:
Dashboard > Settings > Discussions > Default article settings > Uncheck Here [Allow people to post comments on new articles]

    Thanks guys!

This thread looked like the place to put it.

My question is: Can a user with the read role make comments?

Yes, the user with ‘read’ capability can comment.
By Default, the ‘subscriber’ role has ‘read’ capability only.
