WP site is intermittent

    Hello there, folks!
    Greetings.

    I am facing something weird here. The main domain ferraz.net does not have any WP installed (it is just a static page), but the subdomain shop.ferraz.net is intermittent when not accessible at all.
    I contacted my hosting service and they answered that “the server is okay”. As simple as that.

    What happens is:

    – A couple of friends of mine say the page does not open on Android
    – The site works on desktop (Chrome and Mozilla FF on Windows), but sometimes not. Sometimes I just need to refresh the URL few times and it loads okay. Sometimes not.
    – The site is intermittent on Safari’s iPhone (more frequently than desktop)

    I tried the basic troubleshooting, by disabling plugins, etc.

    Something strange I noticed: when running https://geopeeker.com the subdomain is not rendering at all.
    I also have setup an alert using the uptimerobot site to ping the subdomain every 5 minutes, and there is no notification that the site is down, even when I am not able to open it.

    Is this challenging for you guys?

    Howdy!

    One thing that came to mind was checking the DNS records for that. I checked the A and AAAA records for the subdomain and they were very hit and miss. No AAAA records were found. You can use a tool like: https://www.whatsmydns.net/

    You might want to check with you dns provider to see what’s going on or use a different service for that.

    That’s a good catch, Jose. I might talk to the hosting support about that. But how can this explain the site to going up and down?
    A dns misconfiguration would lead to a non-accessible view.

    Also, AAAA records are not properly configured for ferraz.net but it does not mean that the main domain is unaccessible or intermittent.

    Because technology is weird? lol

    One thing I can possibly think of is IPV6 ( AAAA ) is more often used on newer mobile devices as well ( https://blogs.akamai.com/2016/06/preparing-for-ipv6-only-mobile-networks-why-and-how.html )

    That’s one take. I’m sure somebody else might chime in later on too with more details or possible see something else

    UPDATE:

    I was able to enter some records to that subdomain using the cPanel under the hosting platform. Not able to create AAAA records as the hosting company didn’t provide any response to my query. After running https://www.whatsmydns.net/ once more, I can see more positive responses on records, however I am not able to check on Android devices now.
