WP shows plugin update available but all are up to date

I have that kind of problem at my server CP, and even thought I have told the offending script to stop monitoring my installations. So, something somewhere must not have updated a log or whatever…and I would likely just delete-and-reinstall the plugin to get that message to go away.

Deleting the _site_transient_update_plugins entry in the wp_options table worked for me temporarily, but then the message came back later.
