WP Security on password protected sub-directory

Hi All,

I have recently been setting up a number of subdomains in order to create some staging sites (ie just some additonal sub directorues)

These directories have been username and password protected through my hosts cpanel settings. I am therefore thinking that if these have been password protected, do I need to worry about ensureing my security plugins such as Wordfence are still up to date and running?
