You can use WP-Piwik to add your tracking code automatically to your site (see “Add tracking code” tab). Then, WP-Piwik will get the tracking code from Piwik and apply the modifications you configured.
a) If you like to add the tracking code manually to your page (as you described), please take the code from Piwik itself. If you need support on this, please contact the Piwik community: https://forum.piwik.org/
b) Or do you just get no results in WP-Piwik while Piwik itself shows data? Then you should create a mod_security whitelist (https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-piwik/faq/), contact your host for more information.
Anyway, it’s always a good idea to check for JavaScript errors, maybe this already gives a hint on wants wrong with your code.
Hello,
Many thanks for your reply. I thought I had set up everything properly, and that it was a HOSTGATOR problem. I chatted with a hostgator representative, and they ‘unblocked’ (excuse the term) some mod_security whitelist . Piwik immediately began recording information. So I am good to go.
I also installed the plugin wp-piwik. One thing I noticed is that when you get the tracking code javascript from the plugin, it is different to the tracking code from the piwik dashboard (in how the domain name to be tracked is written).
Thanks again for what looks like an excellent analytics addition.
Neil.
