• I have been using WP for 2 weeks to build a site to my local drive (MAMP as acting server) while the team decides on a VPS. Access ing my dashboard has never been problem until today. When I tried to go to the dashboard (localhost:8888/OAS_Wordpress_Site/wp-admin/), I am now redirected to the WP login page.
Since I never set up a password to use it locally, I can’t bypass this creen to access the dashboard.
Is there a way to work around this to get to my dashboard. Also, why would WP automatically set up an admin log-in without my consent and require me to have a user name and password?

Thanks in advance for all your help

It doesn’t. Entering an administrative user name and password is part of the installation process. It won’t install without a default administrative account.

…I am now redirected to the WP login page.

Normal behavior for a logged-out user.

If you didn’t write down, or don’t recall creating the primary admin credentials during installation, you should be able to use phpMyAdmin to reset the password without too much trouble. Reference: Resetting Your Password
