Agree. The problem still exists and not resolved as marked in the topic.
This is very strange – i have to constantly check it see if the site went live. This plugin used to work flawless for quite some time. Now it appears that something happened – and I’m concerned because the site is under construction and can not be live.
I’ve been experiencing this problem on several sites I’ve been developing too: no change to the setting, it still says it’s on, but it’s not. I’ve been logged out & the site is viewable. I’m not sure why this thread is marked ‘Resolved’ as there’s no resolution here that I can see!
By the way I’m using BackWPUp as well, but I have no idea if it’s actually that is actually what’s causing this or not.

We also have BackWPUp installed, however there is NOT a scheduled backup and based on prior information in this thread I deactivated it to see if that was the issue or conflict. We are still experiencing this and would appreciate any input in order to resolve this issue.
Current is the problem, that we not can retrace the problem.
All tests on different installs have not this problem.
I will test it more and more this problem, but current is my settings always fine and the splash page is active.
I think we have found the bug. BackWPup clean up the database after a backup for more performance etc. and clean also the entry for active maintenance mode. The next version will fix this.

I think, that we update this two plugins in the next view days; not longer.
Maintenance mode also turns off for me several times a day. I have been just simply logging back in and resetting it. I do not have BackWPup installed.
Please can you check, after the plugin deactivate it, how is the value of the item in tabel options: wp-maintenance-mode-msqld.
Also can you send a screenshot of settings. I can’t find a problem. The plugin checks only this one entry in the database. Is value 0, then is the maintenance mode inactive, in all other strings or values is the mode active.

I don’t know how can i help you, is it in the plugin options or in the sql base ?
You can use the plugin Adminer. Switch in this mode, see the database.
Select the table options or search on the field *Search data in tables:* for the string wp-maintenance-mode-msqld. You get the tables, there find this string. On default is this the options table and now click on this string, is a link and you find the table entry as table view. Important for me is the value on column option_value
