/wp-login.php not working in wamp

    I think i’m using wp 3.5.1 as i’ve updated to the latest recently.
    my problem is when i attempt to login to wp via localhost/wp-login.php I get a username and password denial.
    I would like to manage wp locally.
    I copied wp from a godaddy account as well as the db. i got everything except wp dashboard thing to work

    I found good info in another post.I am not sure why the export scrambled my database passwords, but im sure that is what happened.
    1: login to php admin
    2: went to my database
    3: wp_user
    4: clicked edit on my admin user
    5: chose MD5 in function
    6: typed in my new password i.e. password
    7: clicked go
    8: restarted all services
    9: opened web browser and navigated to localhost/wp-login.php
    10: loged in
