The domain kentdoyle.com appears to be still directed to Hostgator. You’ll need to change the nameservers to direct to your GoDaddy hosting account.

We can’t help directly with that as every host is completely different, so you’ll need to check with GoDaddy for your hosting account’s nameservers and for how to change them in your domain.

I changed the nameservers to Godaddy hosting, but it still is not working. Looks the same as before.

    I see a WordPress blog at http://www.kentdoyle.com/ now. 🙂

I suspect that domain hadn’t fully propagated when you tried.

When a domain is registered or altered, there is a process called propagation, where information about the domain name is passed to internet service providers all over the world. This process can take up to 72 hours (though usually much less). During that time, you may also receive a warning message in your browser about “redirect errors”. Unfortunately, we have no control over this as it all depends on how often your internet service provider updates their records.

If you still have trouble viewing the site after 72 hours have passed, please try clearing your browser’s cache.

If that doesn’t work, try clearing your local DNS cache: https://support.opendns.com/entries/26336865-Clearing-the-DNS-Cache-on-Computers-Servers-and-Web-Browsers

Thank you 🙂 It still looks the same to me, but I will take a look at it later to see if it looks right.

Perfect, let us know how it goes! 🙂

    From MacManX:

Unfortunately, we have no control over this as it all depends on how often your internet service provider updates their records.

There actually is something you can do to assist with a faster name propogation. It involves reducing the TTL (Time To Live) of the name records issued by the OLD / Original hosting company.
    This

      advises

recipients of the name resolution record, that after this time, they should drop their cached result and thence new queries will fetch the name resolution afresh. NOTE that the time you set is purely advisory, the cache software is not compelled to honour your request.

So this is how it is done.
Well before you want to change servers (say 2 days) you reduce the TTL to say 3 hours (1440 seconds), then 12 hours before the change you reduce it to 1 hour (3600 seconds), then 1 hour before the change you reduce it to 10 minutes (600 seconds).
THEN you change the nameservers to point to your new hosting.
All being well the rest of the internet will find out about your new hosting location within 10 minutes (or whatever minimum cache time they honour).

All that remains to do is to go back to your OLD server (using THEIR name or IP and NOT using your name), and collect an emails or other web traffic which may have dribbled in. This would be done many hours after the changeover.
Hopefully the new server worksout and you can decommission the old server.
As administrator of a website this is quite a busy time.
