WP login rejects all passwords (4 posts)

After deleting all files from a previous installation I installed WP2.2. I modified the wp-config.php file to name the database and user and db password, and and was able to access the install page. I was advised that the install was complete, and I was able to access the dummy WP page at my blog's URL.

HOWEVER, when I tried to log in, using the "admin" username and the password given, the following message displayed:

    Your session has expired.
    ERROR: Incorrect password

I have tried getting new passwords via email, using the normal "lost your password?" procedure and even using emergency.php. I have tried refreshing the page. But it doesn't seem to matter to the login code -- it always rejects the passwords I enter and gives me the same message.

Passwords are case sensitive. Since you used emergency.php to reset the password, then try it from another computer.

It worked OK from another computer. So it seems that my computer was automatically sending the wrong password, and the WP login panel was shutting it out. Is there a way to stop this from happening without rebooting or going to another computer?

    Clear cookies, clear browser cache?

I thought I remember a problem like this with some firewalls also.
