WP Login Page Redirects after Entering Correct ID-password

    I have been facing this since almost 6 months & I am at the cusp of being fed up with this.

    Ocassionaly (like once a week) I would face this issue. I try to login to my WP login page and I enter absolutely perfect ID and Password, the page refreshes after submission and I see either a 404 error or the same login page again.

    I have tried;

    1. Deleted HTACESS & placed a fresh 1 – didn’t work.
    2. Writing 2 lines of code in WP_CONFIG.php – didn’t work
    3. resetting the password via both front-end and phpmyadmin – didn’t work
    4. Clean up cookies and restart the system – didn’t work
    3. I have tried to login some 50 times now – didn’t work.

    Just to add I think this something to do with SSL, Cloudflare, Hostgator (Server) and or browser.

    I use;

    1. Cloudflare and its free SSL.
    2. Hostgator shared servers

    I could see why you’d be angry about that. Very understandable.

    Have you tried deactivating all plugins to see if that resolves the issue? Does it happen if you use a bundled theme like Twenty Seventeen? It may sound strange but it can happen. Some time last year I had something similar happen and for some reason switching my theme worked.

    Hi

    I tried “renaming plugin folder” – didn’t work.
    I tried renaming theme folder – didn’t work

    This is so annoying, also, today is the first time that I have been locked out of the website since 24hours, the site is fine on the frontend, cpanel passwords look fine, I just can’t log in via backend.

    Can anyone help or refer to a good/reasonable paid service, this is totally a waste of time for publishers.

    Update: It just automatically started working after 24hours just like most of the times, this only resolves the issue but doesn’t get into the root cause.

    If anyone ever gets to know a root cause of this issue and be able to resolve it, please feel free to jump on to our site (link above) and send us an update.

    Till then our clock is ticking for the next time this issue pops up 🙁

    I suspect either of 4 as culprits

    1. Cloudflare
    2. SSL
    3. Timing out of WP (idle time)
    4. Using a VPN (office network)

    Can’t say really, Goodluck to all till the world decodes this jumble.
