WP Hacked by Turkish Trojan, HELP

  • I woke up this morning to find the WP part of my website hacked by a Trojan Turk?? I contacted my server and I am not getting very clear information on what I should do. The hack is apparently only on the WP pages. I downloaded my files and they seem unchanged. I tried to overwrite what is up but it didn’t work. What do I do???? I seriously am clueless.
FYI…I am self-taught at computers, blogs, WP and websites through trial and error and not through any formal training so please advise me in the simplest terms possible.

My website is http://www.americanbrandy.net and the hijacked page is http://www.americanbrandy.net/journal
    I am using WP 2.0.3.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me.
    Brandy

  • 1. You should upgrade to 2.0.4. It’s more secure.
    2. Look for an index.html file in your blog’s root directory and delete it!

    Moshu, that worked, thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought I had checked all the files but apparently not good enough. I am going to upgrade immediately. Thanks!
Any advice on stopping this from occurring again???

What you can do: don’t leave files or directories writable (666 or 777, respectively)!
What your host should do: investigate where the intrusion happened and how.
