Support » Fixing WordPress » wp-framework upgrade problem – child theme not working

  • Resolved altfg1

I tried upgrading wp-framework a little while ago — WordPress kept reminding me daily that the theme needed to be upgraded. I created a child theme as WordPress suggested in the Themes directory, included the style.css file, added info at the top of style.css file (see below). And the result has been catastrophic.

The old style.css is being ignored, and when I tried to add the old functions.php file, the site crashed. Same with the old header.php, etc. etc. (The new wp-framework functions.php file is ENORMOUS.)

Would anyone know why the child theme isn’t working? And why the new wp-framework looks *SO* much more complicated than the 0.24. version I had? Should I just revert back to the old version? The site looks horrible now, and there’s so much code in the upgraded version that I don’t even know where to begin changing things.

    And finally …
Is there any other “lightweight” theme you would suggest? This has become a MAJOR headache…

Any help would be MUCH MUCH appreciated.

    style.css header:
    Theme Name: WP Framework Child
    Template: wp-framework
